Sheep skin coat.

Kind of regret purchasing this as they seem to be appearing EVERYWHERE.

I dyed over my 3 month roots recently, but mainly to get rid of the EVERlasting ombre and dip dye.

That failed because today I dip dyed it AGAIN using the same blue and 'lavender' directions. I might take a photo at some point (at the risk of being vain).

Nearly Christmas and the shopping is nearly done! :)

Bet you never knew

and other such things.

Saw Kasabian at the M.E.N arena on Wednesday, epic! and not just because of Tom Meighan. I also tend to like everythin Serge wears, which probably isn't ideal as he's obviously been stealing clothes from Noel Fielding's wardrobe.

The end of autumn

and the beginning of winter.

Model: Sophie Brown

Saw this idea, here and copied. I thought it'd be cheaper to do, turns out it wasn't due to the extorniate price of green post-its.

DIY Teacup candle.

This is a really delayed post, I definitely should have written it sooner. A month or so ago I went to the vintage fair in Worcester, which was okay but it's been better. I noticed some quaint teacup candles for £6! Being the cheapskate that I am , my friend and I decided to make some ourselves. It was messy but so much fun! I took several photos of this process (considering I do photography I should probably aim to take better photos for this blog)

So we bought 12 tealight candles for £1 to add a scent to the candle (not the nicest colour I must admit) a teacup for £1.50 and a big candle for £1 making the total cost £3.50. To be honest, if the main candle had been scented I wouldn't have needed the tealights. We also didn't need to get two big candles because there was a LOT of wax left over.

We then;
*Grated the white candle and kept the wick.
* Melted the wax and added several of the green candles (By this point the kitchen smelt like soap, nice though)
*Placed the wick in the cup
* Poured the wax in
*let it set.

Bar-gain.

Oh, and this new thing...

(which I'll probably change due to NEVER being able to stick to a decision)

Tomb Raider

At the moment I seem to be in fancy dress more than my usual clothes, I don't mind it though because I looooove fancy dress. Recently I went to one beginning with 'A' where I dressed up as the alphabet, I don't have any photos of that though. Last week I went to one where I had to dress up with something beginning with your first initial. So, once again, I had to dress up as something starting with 'A'. I've been 'Adam Ant' SEVERAL times as I love him (here), so I debated re using my 'alphabet' outfit, however, I felt this was cheating.

SO, eventually I decided to go as Angelina Jolie. Which basically meant I would be dressed as Tomb Raider. At the time it seemed like a really simple fancy dress, but then I got carried away and bought a lot of things ( I managed to sell a few things on ebay so I didn't feel that bad spending).

I bought brown pants (trousers) from Primark and cut them up, two blue guns from a poundshop which I then sprayed black, two black grenades which I sprayed silver and finally a brown bag. For some weird reason I already had a mint vest? I then made gunholsters from leather material and attached it to my belt.

I don't think it turned out that bad, except I forgot I no longer had dark brown hair.

Procrastination

I'm not really good at painting nails, but I've started to get bored with the same bright nail varnishes that I own. However saying that, I could never own a pale colour. I find them too mundane. I tried not painting my nails so they can grow, but that only lasted a week.

So then I decided to paint and pattern them.

I've tried leopard, galaxy and peacock feathers. I've gotten bored of the same old patterns like spots and stripes. Not sure how I feel about the feathers, I think they'd look better in a different colour.

Pre-Raphaelite and a coat.

(excuse the overload of images) There appears to be a distinct link between the new cover of the Florence + the Machine album 'Ceremonials' and the paintings of Dante Gabriel Rossetti of the Pre-Raphealite Brotherhood.

The obvious comparisions include the use of a red headed woman, the use of symmetry/the repetition of the same woman and even similar hairstyles. I think this modern take works well though.

and the coat...?

WELL I bought this a couple of days ago for a tenner! I'm still not 100% on it because it fits weird. I reckon that's down to it being a man's coat though. Also, not really sure what I'm doing with my face.

Coloured hair

So after the disastrous idea to dip dye my hair 'teal' (here) I decided to dip dye my ends purple. Annoyingly, the purple washed out really quickly so I asked a friend of mine to try and dye it two colours. One colour was beginning to bore me anyway. It gradually went from bright pink to purple, it looked alright I suppose but then anythings an improvement from the teal!

SO...the purple, once again, washed out really quick so I was left with a pink layer then a blonde-ish colour at the bottom. I purchased some 'atlantic blue' hair dye (here) and decided to go over the ends but leave a bit of pink. I haven't really taken a 'proper' photo yet as I'm unsure whether I like it.

I also have hair envy of Charlotte Free (here) Not necessarily because it's amazing, but because she gets away with it.

Final thing, two birds one stone!

Rico Genest

Well it gets the point across. 'You've got tattoos>you need/want to hide them > buy Dermablend.' Personally I think he looks better with the tattoos, but that might be because I'm used to seeing him in magazines with them (etc...)

Andrew Charles

I may bit a bit biased because I'm a fan of Steven Tyler, but I can't help liking the women's section of Andrew Charles (especially the shoes). Gutted that it's only based in Macy's.

The range (put together by Andy Hilfiger and Steven himself) was obviously based on Tyler's fashion sense with clear influences from Rock n Roll.

Also, I think Chelsea Tyler impresses me almost as much as Zoe Kravitz, their bohemian/rock style makes me too envious.

Tyler Shields

Okay, so I've decided that I'm in love with Tyler Shields' work. Usually I find high contrast photographs irritating because I never think this effect works. I find it too overpowering. However, Shields seems to have used contrasting in a way that compliments his images and surprisingly no detail is lost. There is still so much definition within each photograph.

Andrej Pejic

You think of Pejic and you think of androgynous. I don't see why this is still the main focus? Move on. If we're going to be finicky we should probably mention

Tilda Swinton.

Whose androgyny has been played upon for years and is probably the most prominent in the film Constantine in which she plays the angel Gabriel. The point is, it's getting boring.

To speak of it and not act...you may as well stay silent

(Or words to that effect which imply that most people talk about equality and peace yet take no action.) Check out Vinspired. It's a good place to start.

Anyway, I realised I haven't done any photography for almost a year! The above self portrait got me thinking, and I decided to take some photographs based on this idea. They're kind of cheesey but who doesn't like cheese once in a while?!

Oh, and home made tie dye! :)
